Follow a curved surface.
The flexible base conforms to curved surfaces to bring the sampling film into closer contact. Choose the small version with its flexible base or the large version with its foam support for the sampling area and surface.

The soft foam support helps the sampling film conform to uneven surfaces. This foam-base construction belongs to the 15 × 15 mm large version.

The large DLY-FAT-15-S has three separate layers: protective film, sampling film and foam base. The protective film keeps the sampling surface clean until use and is peeled off before sampling. The sampling film contacts the surface to collect shed cells, while the foam base provides soft support.

A flexible base. The same three-layer arrangement.
The small DLY-FAT-10-S has separate protective-film, sampling-film and base layers. Remove the outer protective film before sampling. The sampling film contacts the surface to collect shed cells, and the base supports easy handling and sample transfer.
SAMPLING & TRANSFER
From surface sampling to tube transfer.
- Choose the 10 × 10 mm small version or 15 × 15 mm large version to suit the surface area being sampled.
- Peel off the outer protective film before sampling to expose the sampling film.
- Hold the base and bring the sampling film into contact with the surface. The large version uses soft foam support for uneven surfaces; the small version uses its flexible base to follow curved surfaces.
- After collection, peel off the sampling film and transfer it into a centrifuge tube. The 15 × 15 mm illustration specifically shows peeling in the direction of the white arrow; the film curls naturally for placement in the tube.
15 × 15 mm · Large version
Peel the sampling film. Let it curl for transfer.
After sampling with the 15 × 15 mm version, peel the sample-bearing film in the indicated direction. The removed film curls naturally for transfer into a centrifuge tube. See the operation illustration below for the peel direction.
The outer protective film and the sampling film transferred after collection are different layers: remove the protective film before sampling, then peel off the sample-bearing sampling film afterwards.

Another method for surface sampling that is difficult with swabs
Adhesive cell collectors provide a more suitable method for some sampling tasks that are difficult to carry out with swabs. Yet they can still be awkward to use: some adhere well, but the sampling film is difficult to peel off afterwards; others peel easily but collect less effectively.
We want customers to collect samples well and use the tool comfortably.
Our sampling film adheres firmly during collection and peels off easily afterwards. Once removed, it curls naturally for easy placement in a centrifuge tube.
We were not the first to make one, but there is still work worth doing to make an existing tool better.
